Hello and welcome,
My name is Carol Roberts and I am the designer and creator of Cherry Pie Designs.
Have you ever looked at those lovely books containing those beautiful antique quilts and wished that you could make them all I know that I always have.
So now you can have those patterns based on these romantic old quilts.
The desire to make these reproduction quilts has led me to make these patterns available to everyone.
I just love to design quilts based around the designs of yesteryear, using reproduction and modern fabrics. To make quilts that are new but look old is my thing.
Cherry Pie Designs began in November of 2004. I firstly offered a service to those ladies who had finished tops who wanted them hand basted or the bindings put on and finished. However the desire to share my designs and teach soon became all to consuming. I just love to meet those ladies that say Oh I cant do that because its to hard and then with some encouragement and help they can finally say oh that wasnt so hard after all !! What an achievement.
My designs comprise of needle turn and English piecing applique. This way I can get all those feature shapes just the way I want them to look. I then get out the good old sewing machine and stitch all the components together. I prefer to hand quilt but sometimes time constraints make me have to machine quilt.
I live and work on the central coast of NSW Australia with my husband and my two teenage children, in a lovely rural area. We awake everyday to the sounds of native birds and the smells of the bush. We are not so far out of town that we can’t enjoy the amenities that are offered there but still feel a world away from everyone.
I meet and sew with many ladies who are always so encouraging and supportive and of course we are always sharing new ideas and old ones. This always makes me come home and look forward to planning the next project.
My love of Yuwa fabric has led me to add a Fabrics page to this site. I will be keeping a small selection of fabrics, some that I have used in my quilts, and others that I have not. I will also be adding a Sale Items page. This will contain finished items that I have made and will be for sale.
Block of the Month is definitely going to happen this year.
For information regarding any of my patterns or for tuition information please contact me through this site.
Wholesale enquiries are also welcome.
Remember to enjoy every stitch you make.
Kind regards
